- INTRODUCTION

consolehm uses /dev/io or the SMBus Driver for PIIX4 provided by Takanori
Watanabe to gather information from your motherboards LM78/79 sensors to
provide the motherboard temperature (in your choice of Celcius, Fahrenheit or
Kelvin), your fan speeds in RPM as well as voltage readings.

- KNOWN SUCCESSES

consolehm is known to work on the following motherboard/os combinations

	- Abit BH6	running FreeBSD 3.2-STABLE
			running FreeBSD 4.0-CURRENT
	- Abit BP6	running FreeBSD 4.0-STABLE
	- Soyo SY-6BA+ running FreeBSD 4.0-STABLE *no fan control?

- REQUIREMENTS

	- Winbond/LM78/LM79 sensors
	- Chipset that supports SMBus (Intel PIIX4 bridge & Acer Labs Inc.
(ALI) M1541 and M1543C South Bridges.)
Note: Via Chipsets may also work, although this is untested (ie,
please test it for me. thanks!)
	- The following kernel config:

		controller smbus0
		controller iicbus0
		controller iicbb0
		controller intpm0
		device smb0 at smbus?

	- OR -

	- Using the /dev/io method, you dont need smbus support.

Note: * There is a bug with INTPM which only allows ACPI to function
when it it is on IRQ 9. Go look at INTPM(4).
      * Because exclusive access to /dev/smb0 needs to be made, no other temp
monitoring programs may be running at the same time.
      * An exception to this rule is if you use /dev/io method.
